The Growers
The Growing Friends are enthusiastic volunteers who meet on Wednesday mornings to propagate, pot and prepare quality plants for sale to the public.
New members are introduced to the FGBG facilities and to members working in other FGBG activities in the Gardens. They are also offered an introductory walk in the Gardens conducted by one of the Volunteer Guides. Members learn how to propagate and care for a wide range of plants from the Geelong Botanic Gardens, and to assist buyers in their plant selection. They may also use the FGBG Reference Library to source plant information.
The Growing Friends confer with and learn from the Perennial Border Volunteers as well as the Geelong Botanic Gardens staff.
If you enjoy working with plants, visit the Friends' Nursery at the rear of the Botanic Gardens and talk with some of our members, or email : volunteering@geelongcity.vic.gov.au to register your interest volunteering with the Guides.
