Botanical Art

The Geelong Friends are very proud and privileged to present aspects of our School of Botanical Art during the Association Conference in Geelong in 2016; in particular, the close connection between our School and the Geelong Botanic Gardens will be celebrated.  There will be several occasions when our botanical artists will be involved, including an exhibition and a book launch.

  • The Geelong Botanic Gardens Revealed

The City Precinct trip on Saturday afternoon will visit the recently opened Geelong Library and Heritage Centre and also this exhibition at the prestigious Geelong Art Gallery,  by artists from our School of Botanical Art.

This Gallery visit is a particularly exciting inclusion in the conference program as it is the first time that our artists have held an exhibition at the Geelong Gallery, (http://www.geelonggallery.org.au/) and the works all reflect the close connection between the artists and the Geelong Botanic Gardens.

We have arranged for one of our tutors, John Pastoriza-Pinol, to give a floor talk for the conference visitors and we anticipate that some artists will also be at the Gallery.

Land of the Golden Fleece – Arthur Streeton in the Western District will also be at the Geelong Art Gallery during the conference.

  • TREES Capturing the Essence of the Geelong Botanic Gardens: Artists’ Views

Another of our tutors, Dolores Skowronski-Malloni, will be launching this magnificent book at the conference.  This book has been especially produced by Dolores to coincide with the conference and it celebrates the trees of the Geelong Botanic Gardens.  Many images of artwork are included – by members of our School of Botanical Art

These books will be on sale at the conference and will be of great interest to our visitors as they are a very special record of some of Geelong’s very significant trees.

At the conference venue, there will be many opportunities to purchase a wide range of artworks and associated merchandise at one of the Geelong display stalls.
